CALL FOR PAPERS & EXHIBITION TIDSE 2004

2nd  International Conference on Technologies for Interactive Digital
Storytelling and Entertainment

We invite you to participate at the second TIDSE conference on Technologies
for Interactive Digital Storytelling and Entertainment. Based on a national
workshop on Digital Storytelling in 2000 and the first TIDSE conference in
March 2003 we want to establish the conference as an international forum to
exchange experience and knowledge among researchers and developers in the
field of interactive storytelling and entertainment.

Research papers and case studies are invited that present scientific ideas
or improvements to existing techniques in the multidisciplinary field of
digital storytelling and entertainment/edutainment applications. Suggested
research topics include, but are not limited to:

*  Interactive Digital Storytelling
*  Narrative Environments
*  Entertainment and Edutainment Technologies
*  Interactive Art & Design
*  Virtual Characters in Narrative Environments
*  Augmented, Virtual and Mixed Reality
*  Computer Games and Game Based Interfaces
*  Education & Training
*  Cognitive Sciences in the context of Interactive Storytelling &
Entertainment

Exhibitions are invited in existing techniques in the multidisciplinary
field of digital storytelling and entertainment/edutainment applications. As
exhibitions TIDSE04 excepts CD-ROMs, Videos and running demonstrators or any
other visible representation. Apart from the topics listed above, further
exhibition and design topics include, but are not limited to:

*  Digital Art Installation
*  Interaction Design
*  Mixed Reality Applications
*  Pervasive Computing

Important dates:
January 30th, 2004      : Deadline Submission of Full Papers (8-12 pages)
January 30th, 2004      : Deadline Submission of Short Papers & Case Studies &
Demonstrations (4-6 pages)
February 28th, 2004     : Deadline Submission of Exhibition Paper (up to10
pages)
March 15th, 2004                : Notification of Acceptance
April 15th, 2004                : Camera Ready Version
June 24-26th, 2004      : TIDSE 2004 Conference

Paper Submission:
All submissions should follow the Lecture Notes in Computer Science
(Springer format, see "Authors Instructions" at
http://www.springeronline.com/sgw/cda/frontpage/0,0,5-40006-11-0-0,00.html )
.
Paper submission format should be Adobe pdf. Paper submission will be
accepted via email only.

Exhibition Submission:
The Exhibition Paper can be up to ten pages for presenting the exhibit. The
submission must include a 150 word abstract and a more detailed description
of the exhibit itself.
The description should state clearly the aims and objectives of the exhibit,
the issues that are addressed and why these are significant and timely. In
the Exhibition Paper a technical overview of the requirements for display,
and a statement about which requirements will needed in the exhibition place
should be included. Digital formats must be suitable for either MacOS or
Windows, and the technical requirements must be specified clearly (including
OS, applications, plug-ins, bandwidth, projection etc), as well as the
required space in qm2.
A brief CV of the artists/designers involved should also be included.
Exhibition Paper submission format should be Adobe pdf. Paper submission
will be accepted via email only.
