Software Development and Engineering (SDE) Resource Library
An Overview

A Presentation by Richard Conn, SDE Project Lead

Sponsored by the Jersey Shore SIGAda
  Tuesday, April 28, 1998
  11:45am - 1:00pm
  Telos Conference Room
  55 N. Gilbert Street
  Shrewsbury, NJ

The purpose of the SDE Resource Library is to provide the software
development and engineering community with a refereed collection of
reusable assets to facilitate technology transfer into the user's
organizations. The library includes tools, courseware (both tutorial
and briefing in nature), guidance and recommendations, and other assets
of value to those wishing to stay abreast of contemporary issues and
technologies. Assets in the library are specifically designed for reuse
and offered without distribution restriction, so material may be used to
compose short briefings, one hour tutorials, one day tutorials, and even
16-week courses, as well as being freely distributed and used on
software development projects.

The SDE Resource Library is available on the World Wide Web and is
published on CDROM by Walnut Creek CDROM. Microsoft purchased and
distributed over 400 copies of the SDE Pilot 1 CDROM at the ACM
Technical Symposium on Computer Science Education, sponsored by the ACM
Special Interest Group in Computer Science Education. The SDE Pilot 2
CDROM is now in production and will be distributed at the Fall COMDEX
Conference.

The SDE Resource Library is sponsored by Microsoft, Walnut Creek CDROM,
and Washington University in Saint Louis. Other participating
organizations include the National Science Foundation, Draper
Laboratories, TRW, Bookey Consulting, Auburn University, Idaho State
University, Monmouth University, and the University of Cincinnati.

The assets available through the SDE Resource Library are refereed by an
Editorial Board consisting of representatives from many diverse groups,
including Susanne Peterson of Microsoft, the Honorable Emmett Paige
(former Assistant Secretary of Defense) of OAO Corporation, David Cook
of Draper Laboratories, Hal Hart of TRW, Robert Bruce of Walnut Creek
CDROM, James Cross of Auburn University, Corey Schou of Idaho State
University, Hal Carter of the University of Cincinnati, and Richard Conn
of Monmouth University.

This presentation will include a giveaway (as supplies last) of:

the 15th Edition of the Walnut Creek Ada CDROM (dated April 1998)
the 1st Pilot of the Walnut Creek SDE CDROM (dated February 1998)

The courtesy of an RSVP is appreciated by April 27, 1998. To RSVP, send
email to two people:

Marilyn Ginsberg-Finner (mailto:[log in to unmask])
Nick Vara (mailto:[log in to unmask])

A pizza lunch has been arranged; the cost is $5.00 (be sure to mention
if you want the lunch in your RSVP). The talk is free.
