(1)Senior Information Architect (IA) / Interaction Designer (ID)

Icon Medialab Vienna is looking for Information Architects and Interaction 
Designer.
Icon Medialab is one of the worlds leading integrated e-business and 
Internet consultancies. We provide world-class Internet, intranet, 
extranet, e-commerce and wireless strategies and solutions for 
business-to-business, business-to-consumer and business-to-employee needs. 
Through our global network, we are able to implement multinational 
e-business strategies across local markets. We can also extend local and 
regional web-technology solutions in Europe, Asia and the USA.

The Information Architect (IA) delivers the organization of a consistent, 
logical, scalable and navigable content structure based on the underlying 
business processes and content strategy. The Interaction Designer (ID) 
delivers functional prototypes and is a specialist in designing interaction 
dialogues and functional navigation elements based on the underlying 
content structure. Both get input from the Business Consultants, Media 
Consultants, from the Client and the Users.


Responsibilities

* Translate user needs into solution definitions, functional scopes, 
interaction flows and content structures
* Develop and evaluate interactive prototypes
* Work with usability analysts to establish user requirements, test design 
solutions, and evaluate product implementation
* Work with software engineers to write thorough feature and product design 
specifications
* Understand user and customer needs and help design user experiences that 
meet those needs
* Participate in all phases of the product development life cycle
* Act as an advocate for user-centered design on an interdisciplinary team
* Monitor advances in usability, UI design and the industry, and contribute 
to the usability competency internationally in Icon Medialab


Skills

* Knowledge of user-centered design methodologies
* Familiarity with Internet development technologies such as databases, web 
and application servers, HTML, DHTML, CSS, client- and server-side 
scripting is a plus
* A mix of persuasive, technical, structuring and creative skills to ensure 
high-quality user experiences
* Good knowledge of English and German
* Excellent oral and written communication & presentation skills (including 
writing and illustrating design specifications)


Background

* Degree in Human Factors, Cognitive Science, Human Computer Interaction, 
Computer Science, Cultural Science, Library Science, Behavioral Science or 
related field preferred
* Proven experience in usability & user-centered design  (3-4 years 
relevant experience)
* Experience and conceptual knowledge of the Internet industry and related 
media

(2) Senior Usability Analyst (UA)

Icon Medialab Vienna is looking for Usability Analysts.
Icon Medialab is one of the worlds leading integrated e-business and 
Internet consultancies. We provide world-class Internet, intranet, 
extranet, e-commerce and wireless strategies and solutions for 
business-to-business, business-to-consumer and business-to-employee needs. 
Through our global network, we are able to implement multinational 
e-business strategies across local markets. We can also extend local and 
regional web-technology solutions in Europe, Asia and the USA.

The Usability Analyst (UA) is a specialist in designing usability test, how 
to design questionnaires, performing user research, how to run focus 
groups, etc. The UA is involved in various phases of the work process and 
should be able to conduct interviews, focus groups, prototype tests, 
evaluation studies etc. The outcome serves as input for Media Consultants, 
Information Architects, Interaction Designers and for the Client.


Responsibilities

* Define and monitor usability goals and the user centered approach for the 
development life cycle of a project
* Plan and conduct user tests
* Work with customers and users to identify, structure and prioritize user 
requirements
* Define and analyze target groups and usage contexts
* Understand user and customer needs and help design user experiences that 
meet those needs
* Participate in all phases of the product development life cycle
* Act as an advocate for user-centered design on an interdisciplinary team
* Monitor advances in usability, UI design and the industry, and contribute 
to the usability competency internationally in Icon Medialab


Skills

* Ability to collect behavioral data, analyze it, and convey useful 
conclusions
* Knowledge of user-centered design methodologies, behavioral science 
methodologies and statistical methodologies
* Experience with interaction design, information architecture or 
prototyping is a plus
* Familiarity with Internet development technologies such as databases, web 
and application servers, client- and server-side scripting is a plus

* Good knowledge of English and German
