In Conjunction with 15th IEEE International Conference on Automatic Face and Gesture Recognition (FG 2020), May 18-22, Buenos Aires, Argentina

http://megc2020.psych.ac.cn:81/

Micro-facial expressions (MEs) are involuntary movements of the face that occur spontaneously in a high-stakes environment. Computational analysis and automation of tasks on micro expressions is an emerging area in face research, with a strong interest appearing as recent as 2014. Only recently, the availability of a few spontaneously induced facial micro-expression datasets has provided the impetus to advance further from the computational aspect. CAS(ME)2 and SAMM Long Videos are two

June 2, 2020, University of Stuttgart, Germany
co-located with ETRA 2020

Multimedia applications often strive to deliver high perceptual quality to their users. Fundamentally, the perceptual quality of multimedia is the fidelity of multimedia that supports the users in their task objectives. This can vary immensely across individuals and tasks. Nonetheless, there are physiological constraints to human vision and eye tracking provides unprecedented insight into how users seek out and process visual information. This is particularly relevant, but not limited to, visual media such

*EUSSET-IISI Lifetime Achievement Award*

IT artifacts pervade almost all aspects of our daily lives, so much so

shifting from an exclusive concern with hardware and software to aspects
of the human, social, and organizational contexts within which
information and communication technologies are both being designed and
used. The design of innovative IT artifacts needs to be understood as

With eye tracking becoming pervasive, researchers face fundamentally new challenges regarding privacy and ethics. However, these critical topics have received little attention in the eye tracking community so far. An active discussion about ethical and social implications as well as issues of data privacy is important for the further development of pervasive eye tracking technology and its acceptance in society.

Uncertainty is prevalent characteristic of contemporary life, and a central challenge of HCI. This one-day workshop will explore how HCI has and might continue to engage uncertainty as a generative feature in design, as opposed to a force to mitigate and control. We hope to convene researchers from broad ranging areas to explore the many ways in which uncertainty appears in our research and the different types of responses that HCI has to offer. There is an incredible variety of conceptual formulations of uncertainty and related ideas like risk, ambiguity, and suspense that raise both difficult challenges as

Smart Cities at Play: Lived Experiences, Emerging Forms of Playfulness, and Problems of Participation

CHI'2020 Workshop

Smart cities can be described as places where physical environments are combined with information technology to rectify socio-economic and environmental issues. While this might be the case, for the most part scholarly attention has focused on the technologies used to construct these environments. What is missing from these discussions is a deeper engagement with the lived experience of ‘smart spaces’, and the extent to which this confluence of the physical and digital is currently configuring new explicit and/or implicit forms of play. Online Fashion retailers have increased in popularity over the last decade, making it possible for customers to explore hundreds of thousands of products without the need to visit multiple stores or stand in long queues for checkout. There exists a number of hurdles that customers face with current online shopping solutions. For example, they often feel overwhelmed with the large selection of the assortment and brands. smart city infrastructure can be harnessed to create novel interactions and
playful experiences within the city by lending an ear to trees, giving a
voice to park benches, stairs and garbage cans or reviving the shadows that
pass in the night thereby enabling a host of new interactions and
experiences

Special Issue CFP Website: https://www.nist.gov/el/intelligent-systems-division-73500/transactions-human-robot-interaction-special-issue

Submission Website: https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/thri

The impact of technology in collaborative human-robot teams is both driven and limited by its performance and ease of use. As robots become increasingly common in society, exposure to and expectations for robots is ever-increasing. However, the means by which performance can be measured has not kept pace with the rapid evolution of human-robot interaction (HRI) technologies. The resulting situation is one in which people demand more from robots, but have relatively few mechanisms by which they can assess the market when making purchasing decisions, or integrating the systems

*IEEE VR Workshop on Immersive Sickness Prevention (WISP 2020)*

=== Call for Papers ===

Cybersickness remains one of the most significant challenges facing the
virtual reality industry. Although immersive technologies have been
advancing rapidly, their rate of public adoption has been slowed by the
fact that many users experience physical discomfort during or after the use
of VR devices, with symptomatic characteristics similar to motion sickness.
Furthermore, studies have consistently shown that motion sickness
disproportionately affects women, and concerns have been raised about the
existence of inequitable barriers for engaging with immersive media.
