WORKSHOP ON HETEROGENEOUS TRUST IN DISTRIBUTED SYSTEMS -- HTDS 2023
October 26th, 2023 in Princeton, New Jersey, colocated with AFT.
https://htds-workshop.github.io
OVERVIEW
Many permissionless systems are based on a global, collective assumption about adversarial behavior – e.g. that less than 50% of hashing power or staked tokens are adversarial, as in Bitcoin and Ethereum.
However, other systems, like the XRP ledger, MobileCoin, the Stellar network, and the Anoma protocol, allow each participant to flexibly make its own assumptions about failures and adversaries. This flexibility is useful, for example: * As a more egalitarian approach than proof-of-work and proof-of-stake for building
The CS2023 joint task force of the ACM, IEEE-Computer Society and the AAAI ( csed.acm.org) is pleased to present Version Gamma of the computer science curricular guidelines at: https://csed.acm.org/cs2023-gamma/ The report updates the computer science curricula last released in 2013 ( cs2013.org), presents a competency framework for computer science, and addresses numerous curricular issues of current interest to computer science educators. At the above site, we invite you to provide feedback and suggestions by October 31st. The report is tentatively scheduled to be finalized by the end of this year.
Nominations are requested for the *Prize for Innovation in Distributed Computing*, awarded by the Colloquium on Structural Information and Communication Complexity <http://sirocco.hiit.fi/> (SIROCCO).

Title: Online Parallel Paging and Green Paging
Abstract: The parallel paging problem captures the task of efficiently sharing a cache among multiple parallel processors. Whereas the single-processor version of the problem has been well understood for decades, it has remained an open question how to find optimal algorithms for the multi-processor version. We solve this problem by giving optimal multi-core paging algorithms for optimizing both makespan and the average completion time. In
