Overview of the GTKAda Seminar:

GTK is an Open Source Free Software GUI Toolkit, developed primarily for
use with the X Window system. Everything about GTK from the Free
Software LGPL to its object-oriented design allows developers to create
user interfaces for their projects in a wide variety of languages which
are highly portable (Windows based systems and unix based systems), and
free of any commercial license or royalties.

GTK contains a great deal of technology including well designed and
mature GUI builders. It has been used in many very widely distributed
applications. One of the most important is the desktop environment for
Linux called GNOME. It also includes the tools that run within this
environment.

One of the best implementations of GTK interface has been done in Ada
and the GTK GUI builder (GLADE) has been extended to generate this code.

Here is a short description of what will be covered:

   o  Overview of GtkAda. History, Contents, Advantages;
   o Tutorial through various examples, both with and
      without using the GUI builder;
   o How easy it is to design an interface with GtkAda, with the
      ability to go back and forth between the GUI builder and the
      generated code.
   o The various possibilities offered by GtkAda through concrete
      examples. This will include object oriented features, type
      safety, integration with the GNAT toolchain.
