management and improvement of organizational processes, the
innovation and effective use of information systems and software
processes, as well as all those who are interested in developing
efficient and profitable work processes to increase the
competitiveness of the organization in the market.
SPI Experience

EuroSPI conferences present and discuss practical results from
improvement projects in industry, focusing on the benefits gained
and the criteria for success. Leading European industry
contributes to and participates in this event.
This year's event is the second one to be hosted in Scandinavia
which has one of the most vibrant SPI communities in Europe and is
home to some of the top electronics companies. It is the 6th of a
series of conferences to which countries across Europe and from the
rest of the world contributed their lessons learned and shared their
knowledge to reach a higher level of software management
professionalism.

Call for Participation

Presentations will be from leading companies and experts in the field.
Abstracts for papers of approx. 200 words should be sent to the
conference secretariat (ASCII text by Email is preferred) no later
than 17.5.1999.
ESSI Process Improvement Experiments (PIE) are encouraged to
participate. Please refer to the dissemination guidelines published
at http://www.cordis.lu/esprit/src/stessi.htm in the section 'useful
information'.
Associated Events

In conjunction with the conference there will be one day of mini-seminars and
workshops dealing with practical issues of Software Process
Improvement. Workshop leaders will be recognized experts in the
field. The workshops cover the following topics:
Business and Goal Based SPI
Cost Benefit Analysis
Root Cause Analysis
GQM workshop
Data Analysis
Assessment Methodologies
SPI in Innovation Management
Teamwork Based SPI Principles and Experience.
While the conference is a collection of experiences, the
workshops are interactive sessions in which participants learn
''how to do it''.The conference will also include a scientific track
concerning Software Measurement and Improvement.
