My apology for multiple postings.

This is a reminder of the submission deadline for the CSCW'2000 Workshop
Beyond Workflow Management: Supporting Dynamic Organizational Processes
=======================================================================
part of the ACM-Conference on Computer Supported Cooperative Work in
Philadelphia. (see also http://www.acm.org/cscw2000/progworkshops.html)

Workshop Date December 2, 2000
Early registration deadline for CSCW2000: October 27, 2000

Introduction

Today's organizations are characterized by dynamic, uncertain and error-prone environments. In order to effectively support processes in such contexts, systems must be developed, which support truly dynamic organizational processes.
Dynamic organizational processes can be grouped in two major clusters. On one side are the adaptive processes, which start out with a fairly clear understanding of the type of activity, which is needed to achieve its goal. During enactment of the processes some exception forces the actors involved in the process to change the original path of activity. A second group of dynamic organizational activity is best described as emergent. In those activities the process is unclear at the start and emerges during enactment. Existing workflow management systems have typically been focused on dealing with exceptions and have thus offered some type of approach to support adaptive processes. These types of systems, however, have typically overlooked emergent processes, which seem to encompass an increasing part of organized activity.
The goal of this workshop is to provide researchers a rare opportunity to discuss and brainstorm the social as well as technical considerations that have to flow into the design of systems to support truly dynamic organizational processes that include both adaptive as well as emergent organizational processes.

Submission procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit a one or two page position paper regarding his/her position about how support for dynamic organizational processes can be advanced. In particular the author should address:
- Briefly address the major open issues.
- Succinctly comment on some possible attack route to those issues.
- His/her background as relevant to the topic.

On an additional page of the submission the author should list a series of questions that he/she believes should be discussed at the workshop.

All submission should be emailed to [log in to unmask] with "CSCW2000-WS" in the subject line. Please send PDF-files, HTML-files, or email-text by September 29, 2000.

If electronic submission is not possible send your submissions to
