CHI98 Workshop on Theoretical Foundations of Hypermedia Design, Use & Evaluation
-------------------------------
April 19 & 20, Los Angeles, USA
-------------------------------
Revised details at: http://www.eng.auburn.edu/cse/research/vi3rg/ws.html

The rate of creation of hypermedia information has far out paced
developments in the theory of how to design hypermedia to best facilitate
users' comprehension of, and navigation within, the information being
presented. Despite (or perhaps, because of) the commercial success of
these systems, their design has largely been guided by common sense and
intuitions rather than theory. In this context, the theme of this
workshop is emerging theoretical foundations of design, use and
evaluation of interactive visualization, multimedia and hypermedia
systems.

TOPICS of interest include: Computational models; Cognitive models of
interacting with hypermedia; Comprehension models of extracting and
integrating information from multimedia components; Hypermedia learning
models; Design guidelines derived from formal analyses or empirical
studies; Models of browsing and navigation; Theoretical and experimental
approaches to designing and evaluating hypermedia systems, especially in
education, health care and entertainment.

SUBMISSIONS: DEADLINE FEBRUARY 15
Electronically submit one of the following,
preferably as the URL of an HTML file at the authors' site.
Other electronic forms (Word, LaTex, Postscript, PDF, or Ascii) are OK too.
PAPER: a survey or position paper on the workshop's theme,
or one that describes the authors' research on the development
        or application of theoretical models.
CRITIQUE: An analysis of a current hypermedia system from a
        theoretical perspective.
STATEMENT: a short description of the authors' research interests
and experience related to the workshop topic AND a brief description
of how the authors expect to contribute to the workshop's goals.
