PhD Studentship in E-Learning in the Computing Research Centre
Department of Computing
Based in Milton Keynes, UK
Three year studentship, available from 1 October 2005
The Computing Research Centre undertakes distinctive and leading edge research in software and processes that underpin knowledge management, communication, learning, and interactions among humans and machines. A PhD studentship is available to further strengthen our on-going research programme in the design and usability of e-learning environments.
The research project for this studentship is titled 'Information Design and Pedagogical Effectiveness of E-learning Environments'. It aims to investigate the mismatches between learners' and educators' models and between the instructional content developed by the educators and its representation in the design of the e-learning environment.
You will have a good first degree or MSc in a relevant subject (e.g. Computer Science, Psychology or a Design discipline) and a strong interest in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI).
The studentship covers fees and pays an allowance of £12,000 per annum. The Centre will support travel to conferences to present published research papers.
