IGC2003: SECOND WORKSHOP ON INTERACTIVE GRAPHICAL COMMUNICATION. 
                    August 25th-26th, 2003

IGC2003 is a multi-disciplinary workshop focusing on the use of
graphical representations in human communication. Topics of interest
include but are not limited to;

*       evolution of graphical representations,
*       comparisons of virtual and actual graphical media,
*       graphical 'sub-languages',
*       technologies for graphical interaction,
*       form and meaning in graphical communication,
*       graphical annotation, 
*       the interactions between graphics and other modalities,
*       empirical studies of drawing-in-interaction,
*       changes in iconicity and abstraction during interaction,
*       graphical 'gestures' in drawing.

Guest Speaker: Daniel Schwartz, Department of Education, Stanford
University.

Three types of submission will be welcomed. Papers and posters are
solicited for oral presentation. Proposals for demonstrations of
existing or prototype applications and/or hardware that use graphical
interaction are also encouraged. 

Deadlines:

Papers: 10th of June. 
Posters and Demonstrations: 10th of June
Notification of Acceptance: July 15th.
Final Submissions: August 1st.

Format:

All submissions should be made by email, in pdf format, to:
[log in to unmask] Accepted papers, poster abstracts, and
demonstration abstracts will be published as a technical report by QMUL.
We will seek publication of selected papers from the workshop in an
edited volume (selected papers from the first workshop appeared in a
special issue of IJHCS on Interactive Graphical Communication in October
2002).

For submission, papers should be no more than ten pages of A4. Poster
submissions should be one-page of A4. Descriptions of demonstrations
should be no more 3 pages of A4.  For initial submission please follow
the Springer LNCS guidelines which can be found, together with Latex and
Word templates,  at: http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html (no
copyright form is required at this stage).
