Second International Conference on e-Social Science
28-30 June 2006
Manchester, UK

Deadline for registration 18th June 2006.

The conference consists of five workshops on the 28th June which you can register for independently from the rest of the conference.  Topics include-

Social Science Perspectives on e-Science

e-Collaboration Workshop - Access Grid, Portals and other Virtual Research Environments for the Social Sciences

A Semantic Grid for Social Science

New Tools and Techniques for Qualitative Research: Exploring the Challenges and Pitfalls

User Requirements for Visualization in e-Social Science

The main conference has keynotes from Malcolm Atkinson, UK e-science envoy, e-Science Institute, UK; Noshir Contractor, Director of the Science of Networks in Communities (SONIC) Research Group at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications and a Research Affiliate of the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA and Peter van den Besselaar, Professor of Communication Science with a special chair in e-social science, Rathenau Instituut and the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands.

There are also 4 panel sessions on:

Living Labs for Intelligent Cities 
Collaboration, Computation and Community: Lessons from the music information retrieval community 
Social Networks and Cyberinfrastructure (SNAC)
Collaboration and Engagement: the use of new technologies across the Teaching and Learning Research Programme and the Applied Education Research Scheme
