MobileHCI is the leading conference in the field of Human Computer Interaction with Mobile Devices and Services. The 10th conference in the MobileHCI series provides a forum for academics and practitioners to discuss the challenges and potential solutions for effective interaction with mobile systems and services. It covers the design, evaluation and application of techniques and approaches for all mobile and wearable computing devices and services.

31 Full Papers, 34 Short Papers, 15 Posters, 9 Demonstrations and 4 Industrial Case Studies guarantee an exciting week! Have a look at

On the tutorial day, six established researchers in mobile HCI will provide overviews of the state of the art and cover the following subjects in detail:

- Text input for mobile devices (Scott MacKenzie)

- Mobile GUIs and Mobile Visualization (Patrick Baudisch)

- Haptics, audio output and sensor input in mobile HCI (Stephen Brewster)

Last but not least we are happy to announce that one of the keynote presentations at MobileHCI 2008 will be given by BJ Fogg (, director of Stanford University's Persuasive Technology Lab and author of the book entitled "Mobile Persuasion: 20 Perspectives on the Future of Behavior Change".

On-line registration for MobileHCI 2008 is now open. Don't miss the early registration at substantially discounted prices and register before 2 June 2008. To register, go directly to

Submission deadline: 28 April 2008

Mobile Experiences, a new track at MobileHCI, offer the possibility of testing innovative mobile applications in a real life setting. A 300+ group of experts in human-computer (human-mobile), the conference visitors, will experience the application for a period of nearly 6 months in their daily lives: before, during and after the conference. Their feedback will help the developers to further improve the application. There is no restriction in the application domain: from sports to health, from social networking to video tagging or personal internet radio everything is welcome!

We are looking for developers (individuals or companies) of innovative mobile applications willing to leave their application in the hands of MobileHCI 2008 visitors. You will directly receive the feedback from the users via a rating scheme plus feedback forms (where design and set-up is developer's choice) and all submitted applications will be prominently displayed at the MobileHCI website.

Are you up for the challenge? See here how to submit to this track:

6 workshops will be held at MobileHCI 2008:

- Mobile Interaction with the Real World

- SiMPE: 3rd Workshop on Speech in Mobile and Pervasive Environments

- The 2nd International Workshop on Mobile Internet User Experience

- Co-design: Practices, Challenges and Lessons Learned

- MobiMundi: Exploring the Impact of Mobile Technologies on Citizen Media and Participatory Journalism

- Mobile Multimedia - Content Creation and Use

To participate, submit a position paper on or before 5 May 2008 (for most workshops).

For more information, see

We look forward to seeing you in Amsterdam!

Best regards,

Olga Steen
