As one who has staffed the SIGAda booth at SIGCSE for 10 years, I'm
acutely aware of the difficulty in finding enough people to staff
a booth constantly. All of us are volunteers; perhaps one
of your co-workers (who seem to go to STC anyway) would be
willing to volunteer some time in the booth next time?

Did I hear you volunteering to go to LinuxWorld to spend some time
staffing the booth?

Remember, John - SIGAda is nothing but volunteers. We all have day jobs;
nobody "works" for SIGAda. Booth staffing happens in a combination of
several ways:

- The individual lives in the conference area and can get over to the
conference for a day or so to staff the booth

- The individual does not live in the area but is able to go to the
conference anyway (or would go the conference anyway!) and spends
some time there staffing the booth

As far as I know, ARA has no exhibit of its own. I do know that much
of the funding for the SIGAda exhibit comes from ARA.

As we've discussed here before many times, the Ada community is
filled with creative people who have LOTS of ideas for what SIGAda,
or ARA, or... can do to promote Ada. Where things get sticky is
when all the creative people expect someone else to actually
implement the ideas. Nothing much happens when people say "we"
but mean "anyone but me".

In my experience, the SIGAda booth travels to those shows for which

(1) it is judged that it's important for Ada to have a presence there
(2) people step forward and say "I'll staff the booth"

(1) and (2) must both happen!
