PERVASIVE 2006 - additional submission categories now open
---
The Fourth International Conference on Pervasive Computing (PERVASIVE
2006, Dublin, Ireland, May 7-10, 2005) is inviting submissions for
Late-Breaking Results, Posters, Research Demonstrations, Videos, Doctoral
Colloquium, and Workshops Proposals held in conjunction with the
conference. PERVASIVE 2005 seeks to present advances in computing
technology toward new modes of operation (ubiquitous, continuous, and
self-organized) and toward new usage models (ambient, context-aware, and
integral with human activity and environments).

The conference particularly values practical experience with design,
deployment and use of pervasive systems and applications, and
investigation of exciting and inspiring ideas and technologies. Areas of
interest include, but are not limited to:

* Device, communication, and interaction technologies for pervasive computing
* Pervasive sensing and perception, and location and context technologies
* Software infrastructure for pervasive computing systems and environments
* Design, implementation and evaluation of pervasive systems and applications
* Pervasive computing user interfaces and user experience
* Privacy, security and trust in pervasive computing

Late Breaking Results and Posters
---------------------------------
Within the category of Late Breaking Results and Posters, PERVASIVE 2006
invites shorter papers contributing original and recent research findings,
fundamental results, basic research contribution, and novel ideas in the
area of pervasive computing technologies, systems and applications.
Contributions will be peer reviewed and accepted as short papers to be
published in the adjunct proceedings of PERVASIVE 2006. The adjunct
proceedings will be available electronically from the conference web site
and as a physical publication. (EDAS submission website)

Important Late Breaking Results and Posters Dates:
 February 1, 2006: Submission Deadline (13:00 EST)
 March 15, 2006: Notification of acceptance/rejection
 March 29, 2006: Camera-ready paper deadline

Please visit the complete call for Late Breaking Results and Posters on the
conference web site at http://www.pervasive2006.org/lbr.html for more
information. General questions about specific categories of submissions can
be addressed to the chairs:

Tom Pfeifer
 Waterford Institute of Technology, Ireland
Albrecht Schmidt
 Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Germany
Woontack Woo
 GIST U-VR Lab, Korea

Research Videos
---------------
With the category of Research Videos, PERVASIVE 2006 seeks research
contributions, future visions, project descriptions, and concepts of
pervasive computing technologies, systems and applications. The conference
particularly values practical experience with design, deployment and use of
pervasive systems and applications, and investigation of exciting and
inspiring ideas and technologies. Contributions will be peer reviewed and
accepted as short papers to be published in the adjunct proceedings of
PERVASIVE 2006. The adjunct proceedings will be available electronically
from the conference web site and as a physical publication.

Important Research Video Dates:
 February 1, 2006: Submission Deadline (13:00 EST)
 March 15, 2006: Notification of acceptance/rejection
 March 29, 2006: Camera-ready paper deadline

A submission upload system (not EDAS) will be announced shortly which
should be used to upload a single zip file containing the video and the
short paper.

Please visit the complete call for Research Videos on the
conference web site at http://www.pervasive2006.org/videos.html for more
information. General questions about specific categories of submissions can
be addressed to the chairs:

Gavin Doherty
 Trinity College Dublin, Ireland
Frederic Vernier
 l'Universite Paris-Sud, France

Research Demonstrations
-----------------------
The category of Research Demonstrations offers a unique opportunity to
showcase research prototypes, and to discuss them with an international
audience of experts in pervasive computing. To promote this, PERVASIVE 2006
is seeking interesting and engaging demonstrations of pervasive computing
technologies. Proposers are invited to submit Research Demonstrations under
the general topics of the conference. Contributions will be peer reviewed
and accepted as short papers to be published in the adjunct proceedings of
PERVASIVE 2006. The adjunct proceedings will be available electronically
from the conference web site and as a physical publication. The
demonstrations will be introduced during a plenary session of the
conference, and there will also be a reception dedicated to the
presentation of posters and demonstrators. (EDAS submission website)

Important Research Demonstration Dates:
 February 1, 2006: Submission Deadline (13:00 EST)
 March 15, 2006: Notification of acceptance/rejection
 March 29, 2006: Camera-ready paper deadline

Please visit the complete call for Research Demonstrations on the
conference web site at http://www.pervasive2006.org/demo.html for more
information. General questions about specific categories of submissions can
be addressed to the chairs:

Kieran Delaney
 Cork Institute of Technology, Ireland
Bill Yerazunis
 Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories, USA

Doctoral Colloquium
-------------------
The goal of the Pervasive 2006 Doctoral Colloquium is to provide useful
guidance for the completion of the dissertation research and initiation of
a research career. The Colloquium will provide an interactive forum for
doctoral students who have progressed far enough in their research to have
an Idea Paper and a structured proposal, but will not be defending their
dissertation in the next 6 months. This 6-month stipulation is set in place
because we would like for the students to have sufficient time to
incorporate the advice and suggestions discussed in the colloquium. (EDAS
submission website)

Important Doctoral Colloquium Dates:
 February 15th, 2006 : Submission Deadline (13.00 EST)
 March 1, 2006: Notification of acceptance/rejection
 March 20, 2006: Camera-ready paper deadline

Please visit the complete call for Doctoral Colloquium on the
conference web site at http://www.pervasive2006.org/doc.html for more
information. General questions about specific categories of submissions can
be addressed to the chairs:

Matthew Chalmers
 University of Glasgow, UK
Joseph Kiniry
 University College Dublin, Ireland
