SURVEY of Personal Information Management
researchers, developers and practitioners

ANNOUNCEMENT of Special Interest Group on
Personal Information Management at CHI 2004
Thursday 29 April 2004, at 14:30-16:00, in Hall M.

Personal Information Management (PIM) is the storage, organization, and
retrieval of information by an individual for his/her own use. As well
as being an activity we all perform every day, PIM is also a growing
field of inquiry.

Are you involved in the field of PIM research and development? If so, we
would like to hear from you. We have setup an online questionnaire to
collect feedback regarding the issues you see as important to the future
of PIM. You can access the questionnaire at:
http://pimsigquestionnaire.notlong.com

Your responses are being collected in preparation for a Special Interest
Group
(SIG) on PIM at the annual conference on Human-Computer Interaction,
CHI2004. Our intention is to use the questionnaire responses to develop
an initial discussion framework. The SIG will be held on Thursday 29
April 2004, at 14:30-16:00, in Hall M. For more information on the PIM
SIG and a pointer to an on-going discussion see:
http://www.emailresearch.org/Conferences/CHI2004-PIM-SIG

At the end of the questionnaire you will have the option to request a
summary of survey results via email and to be kept posted on other
developments relating to the PIM SIG.

Please note that you may choose not to answer any or all questions for
whatever reason. The survey takes about 10-15 minutes to complete. We
thank you in advance for your participation. As an alternative to
completing the questionnaire, please email [log in to unmask]
with your feedback.

Please forward this email to anyone else with an interest in this area.

Regards,

Personal Information Management SIG Organizers:
William Jones, Ammy Jiranida Phuwanartnurak (University of Washington),
Richard Boardman (Imperial College London), Jacek Gwizdka (University of
Toronto), Ofer Bergman (Tel Aviv University)
