We are organizing a workshop at the Pervasive Health 2008 conference in
Tampere, Finland. The topic is Ambient Persuasion in Pervasive Healthcare

This workshop will discuss the implications of the use of Ambient
Intelligence (AmI) for Persuasion in pervasive healthcare. AmI allows
surrounding the user with persuasive technology in their everyday life,
giving the possibility for persuasive interventions just at the right time
and in the right place. We use the term Ambient Persuasion to refer to the
use of persuasive technologies that rely on context sensing and a network
infrastructure, to enable the delivery of applying context sensitive system
behaviour and persuasive content, personalized for the user, at the right
time and at the right place. The workshop will focus on the potential of
Ambient Persuasion for applications in the area of healthcare systems and
well-being. It will also address the need for theoretical foundations and
frameworks on which to ground such persuasive applications. In addition the
use of Ambient Persuasion also raises a number of ethical and privacy
This workshop addresses the following issues:
* Theoretical foundations of Ambient Persuasion
* Frameworks and heuristics for the design of Ambient Persuasion healthcare
* User experience in Ambient Persuasion healthcare environments
* Application areas in healthcare for Ambient Persuasion technologies
* Case studies and examples of Ambient Persuasion healthcare
* Ethical and privacy questions regarding Ambient Persuasion
* Methods and tools for research on Ambient Persuasion
