Call for Presentation and Film Submissions to the OOPSLA Onward! Track
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
The OOPSLA Onward! track provides a forum for visions of the future of our
field. Onward! is the place to reveal the revolutionary, air the
provocative, and expose the subversive.
The Onward! track is accepting two kinds of submissions: presentations and
films. Presentations should describe new paradigms or metaphors in
computing, new thinking about objects, new framings of computational
problems or systems, and new technologies. Films can investigate ideas,
concepts, and insights related to programming.
The deadline for both is June 1st.

Presentations
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Onward! presentation describe:
- new paradigms or metaphors in computing,
- new thinking about objects,
- new framings of computational problems or systems,
- new and intriguing technologies and
- emerging or revolutionary methodologies.
Onward! presentations should be provocative, inspiring, and in some cases,
subversive.
Presentations are submitted as 10-page concept papers, and are then
allotted 45-minute slots in the Onward! track. They are published in the
conference companion.
Films
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Do you ever get the feeling that powerpoint is just not enough? OOPSLA is
running a film-track just for you! Onward! films investigate ideas,
concepts, insights, or almost anything related to programming. They can
take almost any form: documentary on learning a new language; interviews
with practitioners; animation/depiction of your new technique; diary of a
frustrated grad student. Films can be up to 15 minutes long. These will
be presented in the Onward! track.
Submission requirements for films include an early or partial version of
the film, and a 200-word description about the film (for the program
notes). Full films are only required by the time of the conference.
