i browsed through my notes for the last 60 people i interviewed (not  
all for the same web site but all were projects involving usability  
testing of web sites).  21 of the 60 tried to change the font size  
using browser controls (menus in browser or keyboard controls).  some  
weren't successful  because they were trying to change font size in a  
flash movie.  in flash you can zoom in/out (i learned that watching a  
user do it) but it's not the same 'experience' as changing font size.

of course that's awfully anecdotal and it's just 60 people and a  
handful of web sites that were reviewed but i think it's becoming a  
trend -- hearing people complain about small/light font type/color  
without asking or prompting for discussion of text visibility and  
then watching some of them try to change font size.
