IFIP WG2.7/13.4 10th Conference on Engineering Human Computer Interaction
IFIP WG 13.2 1st Conference on Human Centred Software Engineering
DSVIS - 14th Conference on Design Specification and Verification of Interactive Systems

              Universidad de Salamanca, Salamanca, Spain
                            March 22-24, 2007

              Deadline for submission: December 8, 2006

Engineering Interactive Systems 2007 is a working conference that brings together researchers and practitioners interested in strengthening the scientific foundations of user interface design, examining the relationship between software engineering and human-computer interaction and on how to strengthen user centred design as an essential part of software engineering process.
As a working conference, substantial time is devoted to an open and lively discussion of papers. Potential papers include:

Integration of software engineering and user centred design
* Towards a theory for human-centred systems engineering
* Incorporating guidelines and principles for designing usable products into the development processes
* Usability through the requirements specification
* Representations for design in the development process
* Working with usability with commercial development processes such as Rational Unified Process (RUP), Dynamic Systems Development Method (DSDM), eXtreme Programming (XP), Agile processes, etc.
* Social and organisational aspects of software development in a lifecycle perspective

Software engineering aspects of user interfaces
* Software architecture
* Formal methods in HCI
* HCI models and model-driven engineering
* Impact of distribution on user interfaces
* Portability, consistency, integration
* Development processes
* Case studies

User interface tools and techniques
* Adaptive and customizable systems
* Interfaces for restricted environments
* Interfaces for multiple devices
* Web-based systems
* Evaluation of user interfaces: technologies and tools

Engineering aspects of innovative user interfaces
* Interfaces for mobile devices
* Wearable computing
* New interface technologies
* Information visualisation and navigation
* Multimodal user interfaces
* Interfaces for groupware
* Virtual reality, augmented reality
* Games

Submission instructions:
Full papers may be up to 18 pages in length, and will be published in the post-conference proceedings. The proceedings of the conference will be published as Lecture Notes In Computer Science (LNCS) by Springer. Preprints of accepted papers will be made available on the conference web site before the conference. The final proceedings will, in the EHCI tradition, contain transcriptions of the conference discussions.
Papers must be prepared in the conference publications format, and submitted electronically in PDF format. Papers should be formatted using the LNCS Microsoft Word template available at:
http://www.springer.com/east/home/computer/lncs?SGWID=5-164-7-72376-0

Further submission instructions can be found on the conference web-site.
