Faculty positions in Computer Science, University of Trento
Areas: Human - Computer Interaction, Interfaces
The University of Trento is a young and rapidly growing university placed
in Northern Italy in the middle of the Alps. In recent surveys, the
university has repeatedly ranked among the best in the country for overall
quality of its faculty, research and teaching. This is partly due to the
local context, characterized by a series of new initiatives in Computer
Science, Electronics and Telecommunications, committed support from the
local government, and a quality of life among the top in Europe.
The Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science
("Dipartimento di Ingegneria e Scienza dell'Informazione") was created 6
years ago and now counts around 50 faculty members in three faculties
(Science, Engineering and Economics). Despite its young age, the
department is highly ranked with respect to publications, citations, and
its capability to attract funding both from industry and international
funding agencies (e.g., the European Commission).
For more details, see http://www.disi.unitn.it/
The Department already covers well areas such as: databases and
information systems, security, software engineering, bioinformatics,
intelligent optimization, multimedia, speech and natural language
processing, knowledge representation, knowledge management, information
retrieval, machine learning and data mining, networks, embedded systems
and real-time systems.
We are now looking for top candidates in the general area of Human -
Computer Interaction (HCI). The new position is for a tenure- track or
tenured associate professor, depending on the qualifications of the
candidate. The new Faculty member will start a new group in HCI strongly
interacting with other groups of the Department, but also with research
groups in the Faculty of Cognitive Science, as well as researchers in
local research centers (http://disi.unitn.it/research/partners.xml)
Applications of interested candidates should contain a CV, names and
adresses of three referees, and a brief statement (maximum two pages) of
research objectives and teaching interests.
Deadline for the application: March 31st, 2008.
