Research Fellowship in Human-Computer Interaction

Corpus Christi College Cambridge
Microsoft Research Fellowship

The Governing Body of Corpus Christi College Cambridge and Microsoft
Research Ltd jointly invite applications for a stipendiary Research
Fellowship supporting research in the field of human-computer interaction
(including topics such as ubiquitous computing, situated technologies, new
genres of communication, tangible computing, sensor-based computing, etc.).
Applicants, who may be from disciplines including computer science,
electrical engineering, psychology, sociology, economics, and design, should
hold a PhD or should be expecting to have submitted their thesis prior to
commencement of the Fellowship.

The Fellowship will be tenable for two years commencing 1 October 2008 or on
a date to be agreed.  It may be extended to a third year in some cases.  The
Fellow will work full-time as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Microsoft
Research Laboratory in Cambridge in the Computer-Mediated Living Group and
be a full-time employee of Microsoft Research Ltd. He or she will also be a
member of the Governing Body of Corpus Christi College and be expected to
participate in the intellectual life of the College and of Leckhampton
House, the College's graduate centre. Salary will be dependent upon
experience. The Fellow will receive rights and privileges at Corpus Christi
College and be allowed to teach up to six hours per week at the College for
additional remuneration.

Applications

Applications (in Word, PDF or txt format only) should be by emailed to
[log in to unmask] with the subject line OECorpus Christi Microsoft
Research Fellowship¹. They should arrive by 15 April 2008 and should include
(1) a curriculum vitae, (2) an account, in not more than 1000 words, of the
proposed research, including a brief statement of the aims and background to
it, (3) the names and addresses of three referees (including telephone, fax
and email co-ordinates), WHO SHOULD BE ASKED TO EMAIL REFERENCES IMMEDIATELY
DIRECT TO THE ABOVE EMAIL ADDRESS, and (4) a list of published or
unpublished work that would be available for submission if requested. Short-
listed candidates may be asked to make themselves available for interview at
Microsoft Research Laboratory and Corpus Christi College on a date to be
arranged. Election will be made as soon as possible thereafter, to commence
from 1 October 2008. Travelling expenses for interviewees will be covered.
