The UPA 2009 International Conference, "Bringing Usability to Life, 
Making everyday things better", regular registration discount ends 
at 11:55pm ET on May 4! 

Due to many exciting events in the Portland area, the Hilton Portland and
Executive Tower, located at 921 SW Sixth Avenue, is close to being sold
out over UPA's meeting dates. UPA's low group rate($169 single/double,
plus applicable taxes) will be available until May 12, 2009. After May
12, 2009, the hotel will not only no longer honor the UPA group rate, but
may not have rooms in inventory to reserve. All reservations are taken on
a first come, first serve basis.

Workshop Spotlight

Managing User Experience Teams in a Corporate Environment Workshop:
Inviting all User Experience managers to participate in a workshop on
Monday June 8th. Understand challenges unique to management in this
field,and learn how other usability leaders are solving them. Join two 
user experience managers, one focused on User Experience Design, the 
other on User Research for a day of brainstorming, conversation and 
knowledge sharing. Facilitators: Kirsten Gay & Greg Urban

Design to read: Designing for people who do not read easily: 
Many people have reading difficulties, maybe because of an impairment,
poor access to literacy or because they are reading in a second language.
If you are a researcher, practitioner or advocate then come to share
resources and learn about how best to design for people who do not read
easily. Facilitators: Whitney Quesenbery, Kathryn Summers
