5th International Conference on
Coordinated & Multiple Views in Exploratory Visualization
CMV 2007

		Call For Papers

2nd July 2007,
ETH, Zurich, Switzerland

		Paper Deadline: 15 Feb 2007

Associated and co-located with the
International Conference on Information Visualization

Conference Co-Chairs
Chris Weaver (Penn State Univ., USA)
Jonathan C. Roberts (Univ. of Kent, UK)
Gennady Andrienko (FhG IAIS, DE)

The goal of this conference is to bring together top
visualization practitioners in order to discuss recent progress
and future opportunities in the investigation of coordinated and
multiple view techniques and their application to exploratory
visualization and visual analytics.

Information visualization research has produced a diverse
assortment of highly interactive visual environments.
Coordinated and multiple view visualization tools enable
users to generate hypotheses and test scenarios by exploring
and analyzing multi-dimensional information spaces visually.
Multiple views help users conceptualize information from
different perspectives simultaneously. Coordination allows
users to investigate information by expressing questions in
the form of rapid, tightly-coupled interactions within and
between multiple views.

We solicit original papers in the area of coordinated and
multiple view visualization for information exploration
and analysis. In particular, we encourage submission of
papers detailing:

    * Formal models
    * Illustrative applications and case studies
    * In-depth reviews, surveys, and case studies
    * Novel architectures, toolkits, and systems
    * Targeted or comparative evaluations

Conference topics include (but are not limited to):

    * Collaborative visual exploration and analysis
    * Coordination/tight coupling/linking
    * Exploratory data transformation and re-expression
    * Exploratory visualization methods/algorithms/tools
    * Hardware Multiple View systems
    * Highly interactive systems
    * Interactive steering
    * Manipulation techniques for CMV systems
    * Multiple views
    * Parallel representations
	(multiform views, small multiples, scatterplot
	matrices, spreadsheet-based techniques, etc.)
    * Rapid and dynamic visual exploration and
	analysis techniques
    * Visual collection and management of data and metadata
    * Visual design and management of highly-coordinated,
	many-view visualizations
    * Visual(ization) query languages
    * Visualization of Alternate Viewpoints

Relevant application areas include (but are not limited to):

    * Bioinformatics
    * Business and intelligence analysis
    * Education
    * Emergency management and response
    * Geovisualization
    * Health and demographic visualization
        * Mathematical/statistical exploration
    * Medical visualization
    * Military and security
    * Scientific data collection, processing, and analysis
	(astronomy, chemistry, physics, etc.)
    * Social network analysis
    * Web site data and browsing strategies

Submission Instructions

Please prepare your submission (maximum 12 pages) according
to the conference guidelines found at

Potential Authors are invited to submit a PDF of their submission
through the online submission system. Accepted papers will
appear in the proceedings, which will be published by the
IEEE Computer Society.

Please Note: Once your paper is accepted, you will receive
the Author Kit that will include details of how to submit
the camera-ready paper and copyright form from IEEE Computer

Any queries may be forwarded to Chris Weaver <cew15 at>
