The SIGAda Reuse Working Group will hold its regular annual meeting at
TRI-Ada '97 on Wednesday, November 12, 9:30-11:30 pm. Four primary items
are on the agenda:
1. Election of officers for the next two year term
2. Review of the Reuse Issues Action Team (RIAT) activities and its
evolution into the Product Line Issues Action Team (PLIAT)
3. Presentation and discussion of the Patterns Working Group
4. Planning for for any new activities of the Reuse WG for the next year

We will elect a Chair and Vice Chair/Secretary for the term 1997-1999.
Current officers are Harry Joiner (SRC), Chair, and Roy Bell (Hughes
Aircraft), Vice Chair/Secretary. ReuseWG subgroups include the Product
Line Issues Action Team (PLIAT), chaired by LTC Gene Glasser (Army Reuse
Center), and the PatternsWG, chaired by Ed Colbert (Absolute Software).
This year, the RIAT, chaired by LTC Gene Glasser (Army Reuse Center),
worked on the use of software architectures, particularly in the context of
product lines of software-intensive systems. In cooperation with the
Software Engineering Institute, they sponsored a workshop on "Software
Architectures in Product Line Acquisitions" in June. As a result of the
workshop and other factors, the RIAT agreed to disband and create a new
group, the Product Line Issues Action Team (PLIAT), to focus on creating
and disseminating a body of knowledge through sponsorship of a series of
workshops on the use of software architectures in product line
acquisitions. A fuller report of these developments will be given.

The Patterns Working Group is developing a style guide for using Ada
features and a web-based catalog of design & coding patterns. At this
meeting we will discuss what makes a pattern good, what is a good
representation for patterns, and how to classify patterns, as well as any
suggested patterns or usage guides. If you would like to present a
position, a pattern, or a guide, please send me E-mail to [log in to unmask]
so I can make up a preliminary schedule, and bring 1 electronic copy and 20
hardcopies of your presentation. Meetings are open to all.
