Details

The symposium is a showcase of research projects by the Centre's staff and
postgraduate researchers. The theme of these wide-ranging presentations is
the tendency of media to escape from the traditional boxes of the computer
and TV and become multimodal, physical and pervasive.

This symposium will be of value to anyone in industry or education who needs
to consider our relationship to media and technology.

The programme is currently being finalised. In one day it will cover an
exceptional range including practice-based research, design and art, the use
of historical and futuristic research methods, offering a thought-provoking
insight into the future. Guests will be very welcome to engage in dialogue
about the work.

Presentations are expected to include:
+ Ihnatowicz and onward: the past and future of robotic art
+ Talking and singing to computers
+ Dancing with technology
+ Eye-tracking the film viewer
+ The margins of the city: an artist collaborates with social scientists in
the Vivacity2020 project
+ Film as performance
+ Location-sensitive radio

Refreshments
A light buffet lunch and teas, coffees etc will be provided.

Accommodation
No accommodation is provided. There are a few hotels in the area, but it is
also easy to travel by London Underground train from central London to
