INTRODUCTION:

The theme of this special issue will be ICTs and education. This issue
will cover the current development of ICTs as they are applied in
education. It will provide insightful analysis about how ICTs have
made education more accessible, more equitable, more effective, more
efficient and more engaging. It will also discuss the important
challenges that have to be dealt with in the development of education
ICTs in various regions of the world in their own contexts. It will
attempt to identify the potential applications of ICTs for the further
development and enhancement of education.


OBJECTIVE OF THE SPECIAL ISSUE:

The objective of this issue is to raise awareness in the world of how
ICTs are contributing to the development of education at the primary,
secondary and tertiary levels. The issue will also discuss the
important challenges that have to be dealt with in the development of
education ICTs and the potential applications of ICTs for the purpose
of improving education.


RECOMMENDED TOPICS:
Topics to be discussed in this special issue include (but are not
limited to) the following:

?        Benefits of education to human development
?        Challenges in developing and applying education ICTs
?        Digital divide
?        How ICTs make education more effective
?        How ICTs make education more efficient
?        How ICTs make education more engaging
?        How ICTs make education more equitable
?        Impact of ICTs in education
?        National and regional differences in education ICTs application
?        Policy making with regard to ICTs for developing education


SUBMISSION PROCEDURE:
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit papers for this
special theme issue on ICTs and education on or before August 15,
2009. All submissions must be original and may not be under review by
another publication. Interested authors should consult the journal?s
guidelines for manuscript submissions at
http://www.igi-global.com/development/author_info/guidelines
submission.pdf. All submitted papers will be reviewed on a
double-blind, peer review basis. Papers must follow APA style for
reference citations.

Technologies and Human Development (IJICTHD):
The mission of the International Journal of Information Communication
Technologies and Human Development (IJICTHD) is to create awareness of
how ICTs can contribute to human development in several areas. IJICTHD
describes the link between ICTs and human development (which includes
economic, social and political development), identifies the potential
applications of ICTs for the development of human beings, and provides
insightful analysis about those factors (also contextual and
institutional ones) that affect ICTs for human development
initiatives. This journal also proposes strategies (to both
governments and international cooperation organizations) to move
