CREATIVITY AND COGNITION 2011 AWARD
for Best Contribution to Creative Communication

AN AWARD IN MEMORY OF EMMA CANDY

Deadline for proposals 25th April 2011

Proposals are invited for an award for an innovative contribution to concepts or products that combine creativity and communication in ways that influence the way people use digital media in the future. The proposal could be a paper or digital prototype, a scenario, a story, an interactive installation, an artwork or a game.

The award is intended to promote designers, artists and technologists who are innovating for a more creative and connected world. It includes a travel allowance of US $2000 and a complimentary registration at the ACM SIGGRAPH conference Creativity & Cognition 2011.

Submit a contribution to the conference and propose it for an award or just make an award proposal on its own.

WHO WAS EMMA CANDY?

Emma Candy was a creative designer with a keen sense of form and colour. She worked as an innovation manager in the information and telecommunications industries. Her passion was to create a more connected world and she believed that new digital services and products could benefit people's lives by enabling them to communicate in creative ways. In 2003, she was diagnosed with cancer and died in the following year at the age of 36. She recorded her experiences on her blog as a beta tester for Six Apart’s ground-breaking software “Typepad”.
