Invitation for bids to host Create12, the Interaction Design Conference

The Create Conference steering committee are inviting bids to host Create12. The Create conference plays an important and distinctive role in the conference calendar by bringing together both practicing designers and academics to share, learn and discuss their different view points on interaction design. In 2010 the conference was hosted in Edinburgh as a three day event. In 2011 as in previous years, the event will be held in London. We are interested in receiving bids from alternative venues from across Europe and the UK to take the conference forward in 2012.

As well as presentations of peer-reviewed academic research and student work, the conference provides opportunities for workshops, case studies and demonstrations. Conference themes have been very open and centred on topics such as; theoretical and research perspectives of interaction and/or HCI; how human factors can be integrated within a creative design process, methods that encourage creativity in interaction design, and the challenges of working in multi-disciplinary teams. Bids may continue to develop any of these themes or provide alternative suggestions.

In 2012 it is planned to run the event between June and August, exact dates can be negotiated. In the first instance we invite a brief note of interest, including the following information:

1. Proposed Dates
2. Proposed venue(s) (including information on intended conference size, delegate travel and accommodation arrangements)
3. A rationale and suggested theme for the conference
4. Short biographies of bid team

Other relevant information that would help support your bid is also welcome.
