PhD scholarships
Multimodal Human-Computer Interaction
The Dept. of Information and Computer Sciences. University of  
Strathclyde.

The scholarships are of 3.5 years duration and include a stipend of  
£13,500, and postgraduate fees at the level charged to students who  
are UK/EU citizens.

These scholarships are co-funded by the University of Strathclyde and  
SICSA, the Scottish Informatics and Computer Science Alliance, as  
SICSA Prize Studentships. More details about the scheme can be found  
at the SICSA website.

This scheme requires candidates to have an excellent final degree (a  
First Class degree or equivalent at bachelor level, or a Distinction  
at MSc level). The scholarships are of 3.5 years duration and include  
a stipend of £13,500, and postgraduate fees at the level charged to  
students who are UK/EU citizens. Prospective applicants should submit  
their cv, certificates of their degree, contact details for 2 letters  
of reference, and a short abstract for a research proposal. Selected  
applicants will be asked to develop an extended version of the proposal.

The PhD student would be part of the Mobiquitous Lab, and work under  
the supervision of Dr. Eva Hornecker. Please check our website for an

mobiquitous.cis.strath.ac.uk/). We are happy to receive proposals in  
any area of multimodal HCI. The following list provides suggestions  
for topics emerging from the Mobiquitous Lab's current research.  
Proposals may include building of systems and user studies.

- tangible interaction/ TUIs
- museum installations
- whole/full body and movement-interaction
- multitouch gestures (e.g. using ipads)
- public space installations
- multimodality in learning and entertainment or play
- user experience aspects of multimodal interaction
- support of collaboration through multimodal interaction
- design methods for multimodal interaction
