I am in the process of designing a wizard to guide users performing a task.
The task has several sub-tasks that the user needs to go through. One of the
sub-tasks is to understand a default setting for an import feature. The
default is shown by all the check boxes checked. If the user decides to
change the setting, the user can uncheck one or more boxes.

There are two design approaches:
Approach 1: All the steps are shown sequentiallly

Step 1 -> Step 2 -> Step 3 -> Done

In Step 3, a table is presented with check boxes checked.

Approach 2: In Step 3, the user is informed about the default setting. If
the user decides to change it, click a button, go to another page to change
it (uncheck boxes), and go back to Step 3.

Step 1 -> Step 2 -> Step 3 information only -> Done

                            Change setting

I appreciate your opinions, anecdotes and feedback from real usages about
the two designs.

Thanks!

- Cindy
