"Video Content Visualization for Improved Interactive Search"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Special Session at the 2011 ACM International Conference on Multimedia
Retrieval (ICMR2011)
April 17-20, 2011, Trento, Italy
http://www.icmr2011.org/

Abstract:
As the amount of recorded videos is heavily increasing every day,
facilitating interactive search for visual content is an important topic
in the field of multimedia. Many users employ interactive search and
navigation in videos when they need to find specific segments or in
order to get an overview of the video content. Interactive search tools
enable users to perform a visual search in situations where no concrete
query can be formulated. Furthermore, these methods can be used to
quickly browse through the results of a query performed in a video
retrieval application. Given the specific nature of video content,
rather complex graphical user interfaces are required to assist users in
their interactive information seeking task.
This session will cover tools and methods that facilitate interactive
search in videos. Approaches that can integrate the potential knowledge
of a user about the content to be found in order to speed-up the search
process are of particular interest.
