HOW TO SUBMIT A WORKSHOP PROPOSAL

Scope
-----
ACM Multimedia Workshops should address clearly focused topics. These topics may lie in the research fields pertinent to the main conference - often dedicated to an "arising" focus area - or bridge ACM MM topics with other areas like, for instance, E-Learning.
Workshop Format and Date
------------------------
Half-day and full-day workshops can be accommodated.
The scheduled workshop day for ACM Multimedia 2008 is Friday, October 31, 2008.
Proceedings
-----------
The proceedings will be published *together* with the proceedings of the main conference in electronic format by ACM.
Timeline
--------
Workshop proposals must be submitted by April 27, 2008.
Notification of acceptance will be by May 10, 2008
Organizers can decide on their own deadlines for submission and reviews, but final submission must comply with the overall proceedings rules. In particular,
- papers must be submitted online and peer-reviewed by at least three reviewers
- maximum paper length is 10 pages (a smaller maximum may be prescribed by workshop organizers)
- the general conference deadline for final papers must be met: August 1st.
A *possible* set of deadlines may look like this:
- workshop paper submission deadline: June 28, 2008
- notification of acceptance: July 15, 2008
- final papers due: August 01, 2008
Proposal Format and Submission

Proposals must be submitted by the deadline indicated above. Please follow the upload procedure described at

Proposals must include the following information:
1) Content of the Workshop
a) Title
b) Tentative Text (Body) of the Call for Papers
c) An abstract addressing - as far as not yet covered in 1b) - the following issues:
- the rationale for the workshop
(in particular: why is the proposal appropriate to ACM MM, and what do
the organizers anticipate the participants will walk away with / "learn",
what is the target audience),
- tentative review/selection procedure and timeline,
- expected number of participants,
- 'series' context (is the workshop part of a series? Was it held before?
If so, when/where)
- any further information considered relevant
b) and c) together should comprise several hundred words
2) For each of the (one through five) proposers:
a) Name, Affiliation
b) Short Bio, including a description of the expertise in the
topic(s) of the workshop (around 150-250 words each)
3) Tentative Program Committee (Name+Affiliation of members)
