I, too, turn images off at home -- to avoid animations (I have a Mac, and don't have Opera, which lets you turn this of on the PC), improve access time (i'm looking for information!) ....

I have a high end powerPC with a 56K modem -- I turn images back on when *I* want to see them -- or, when the designer requires them for navigation and i'm stuck cause I need to be on the site (http://www.compaq.com/ comes to mind). I then grouse a lot.

Most non-navigation graphics on most web sites are there to make the designer/owner happy -- illustrations, as it were, not "information."

And non-ALT text nav graphics drive me nuts -- poor design, horrible universality.

AH - I solved this with QuickKeys for the Mac -- I have a keyboard shortcut that turns images on or off ... It's Grand. Particularly since you have to turn the darn things on to get them to load on framed-sites.

Corollary product for the wintel platform?

Kathy

ps - oh, java is off at work because of the firewall and javascript is often "off" when sites are using it in an annoying way
