We invite submissions for the Innovation Forum at “Re-Thinking Technology in Museums 2011: Emerging Experiences” conference. The Innovation forum will take place on May 27th and will provide opportunities for companies, individuals and organisations to showcase technologies and services that are designed to support visitors’ experiences for museums, exhibitions and other heritage sites, or technologies that hold potential for such domains.
The audience at the conference, which jointly hosted by the Interaction Design Centre at the University of Limerick and the Irish Museums Association, will be a mix of museum education and communication experts, curators, exhibition designers and interaction designers. The forum, coordinated by IxDA Limerick, will provide significant networking opportunities with this audience.
The forum will consist of an exhibition running in parallel to the conference and that delegates can visit during breaks and during a dedicated “soapbox” session where the Forum presenters will be able to pitch their demo.
We seek submissions around the following themes
Interactive systems for Museum , exhibits and other heritage sites
Web technologies for museums
Mobile applications
Innovative platforms/services that could be adapted for cultural heritage sites
Working prototypes of groundbreaking technologies that hold potential for the museum/heritage sector
To participate in the Innovation Forum we request that interested parties forward a brief description (max 2 pages) of what they intend to present during the forum and an outline of any practical requirements that are needed to support their exhibition.
For preparing your application please download the template.
If you are interested in submitting, please send your application ASAP to Marc McLoughlin ( [log in to unmask]). The deadline for submissions is the 29th of April 2011.
Please note that if your proposal is accepted, you will have to register to the conference in order to participate in the forum.
