Aims & Topics of Interest:
The growth of the Web and user bases lead to important performance problems for large-scale distributed information retrieval systems. Scalability and efficiency of these systems also have an impact on their effectiveness. As the premium venue on the topic, the LSDS-IR'11 workshop aims to bring together high-quality research contributions on scalable and efficient large scale IR systems. The workshop also hosts contributions that propose different ways of leveraging diversity and multiplicity of resources available in distributed systems. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

- applications of cloud computing to IR
- IR algorithms on novel computing architectures (GPUs, etc.)
- distributed crawling, indexing, and query processing
- large-scale multimedia IR
- heterogeneous resources and data integration
- P2P approaches in distributed and personalized IR
- search engine caching and replication in large scale systems
- standards and benchmarks for large scale and distributed IR
