DRCx – DESIGN RESEARCH CONFERENCE
The Impact of Technology on Design Research
IIT Institute of Design, Chicago
Oct. 24–26, 2011

Good morning, everyone, and happy Friday.

We are excited to announce three additional speakers before heading into
the weekend: two amazing anthropologists, Donna Flynn and Melissa Cefkin,
with a shared background in working for technology-driven companies, as
well as ID’s own Stan Ruecker, an expert on the future of information
reception.

Donna Flynn recently moved from Microsoft to Steelcase and will be able
to provide us with insights around the role and impact of design
research within different corporate cultures.

Melissa Cefkin will let us in on her extensive knowledge of research
within IBM (and beyond) and show how technology has been used more out
of necessity than novelty to inform research within globalized
corporations.

Stan Ruecker has been intensively studying the changing role of reading
for the last couple of years and has recently been welcomed in our halls
at ID to continue his studies on the role of hermeneutics for design
research.
