**** DEADLINE APPROACHING - January 31st ****

Conference dates: June 20-22, 2013, Porto, Portugal

Special Track on:
TEAMWORK, COLLABORATION and PATIENT-CENTERED CARE (TCPCC 13)

Communication, Teamwork, Interaction and Mobility are terms we have come to associate with healthcare work. Communication can be synchronous or asynchronous, coupled and often mediated by multimedia technology. The challenge of co-ordination and supporting co-operation in these work settings is an on-going problem for designers and developers. Co-ordination of information among teams and between institutional settings is critical for efficient and effective healthcare delivery.
In this economic climate, we are especially challenged to find more efficient and effective methods of delivering services. We are provoked to provide novel approaches to help to identify and treat disease, and also to maintain a healthy population; we need to provide solutions that span several organisational forms, provide population-based information, as well as delivering personalised solutions for individual patients. A range of technologies have the potential for hospitals, teams, and individuals to reconfigure their traditional practices in new and effective ways.
This special track invites researchers and professionals in various-disciplines such as computer science, health informatics, health care, information systems, HCI and CSCW, to present and discuss their research activities related to TEAMWORK, COLLABORATION and PATIENT-CENTERED CARE. Scientists, including computer and cognitive scientists, psychologists, clinicians, informaticians and others interested are encouraged to submit their papers to this special track.
All accepted papers will be published in IEEE Xplore and authors of selected papers will be invited to submit extended versions of their work for consideration in a Special Issue of the Journal of Behaviour and Information Technology (Taylor & Francis) to be published in late 2013, or early 2014.

Past Editions

This Special Track was initiated in 2008 and has evolved over the years since then.
	•	IEEE CBMS 2012, Italy, ST Collaboration and technology-mediated communication in Healthcare
	•	IEEE CBMS 2011, England, ST Supporting Collaboration in Healthcare
	•	IEEE CBMS 2010, Australia, ST Supporting Collaboration among Healthcare Workers
	•	IEEE CBMS 2009, USA, ST Sharing Knowledge and Expertise in Healthcare
	•	IEEE CBMS 2008, Finland, ST Health Knowledge Management
This year we propose to develop this theme of collaboration, by bringing focus to the practical issues that face healthcare workers in caring for their patients in 2013.

Paper submission and publication

Submitted papers have to be original, containing new and original results.

Unlike workshops, where position papers and reports on initial and intended work are appropriate, papers selected for a special track should report significant unpublished work suitable for publication as a conference paper. Submission implies the willingness of at least one of the authors to register and present the paper at the CBMS 2013 Symposium. All papers will be peer reviewed by at least two independent referees. All accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings published by IEEE Computer Science Press. Electronic manuscripts (Postscript or PDF file) should be submitted via the conference web submission system. The names of the authors should not be included in the manuscript, but in a separate page which will contain the title of the paper, abstract, key words, names and affiliations of each author and full address, e-mail, affiliation and fax number of the corresponding author. The rest of the paper including title, abstract and key words should consist of at most six pages prepared following the IEEE two-column format.

IEEE file guide can be found here.

LaTeX or Microsoft Word templates can be used when preparing the papers. Please, note that only PDF format of submissions is allowed.

Electronic manuscripts should be submitted via the EasyChair web submission system (please select Special Track on Learning-Based Biomedical Information Systems). For more details please see the website of CBMS 2013.
