UMAP 2012 -- 20th International Conference on
User Modeling, Adaptation and Personalization

Montreal, Canada - 16-20 July 2012
http://www.umap2012.org

----------------------------------------
Call for Workshops and Tutorial Proposals
Submission deadline: 17 January 2012
----------------------------------------

UMAP is the premier international conference for researchers and
practitioners working on systems that adapt to their individual users,
or to groups of users, and collect and represent information about users
for this purpose.

The conference will take place at the UQAM university campus, situated
in the very heart of the arts and entertainment district of Montreal.
The city offers a wide array of attractions and a unique blend of North
American and European culture.

----------------------------------------

UMAP 2012 is looking for exciting proposals for half-day or full-day
workshops and tutorials. Each workshop should generate discussions that
give the UMAP community a new, organized way of thinking about the
topic, or ideas that suggest promising directions for future research.
Each tutorial should provide its attendees with new knowledge and clear
understanding of the specific topics discussed.

We encourage you to send inquiries, proposal plans and questions well
before the submission deadline. We will be glad to provide feedback and
suggestions.

Final workshop and tutorial submissions should be made via EasyChair.
Please read the proposal guidelines on the website for more details on
the submission format and review criteria.

WORKSHOP PROPOSALS

Workshops provide an efficient forum for community building and sharing
of ideas on emerging topics or specific research questions. We are
looking for well structured workshop programs that aim to produce
answers, artefacts and/or strategic directions for the field. We
strongly encourage innovative workshop formats that move away from the
classic 'mini-conferences'. And why not think differently and accept
demos, videos or even blogs as elements of workshop submissions?

Workshop proposals (3 pages) should outline the area, goals, scope,
format and expected outcomes of the workshop, and also introduce the
members of the organizing team and their backgrounds.

TUTORIAL PROPOSALS

Do you have an advanced topic that you are excited about and want to
share? Or do you like to teach young researchers about fundamental
topics or necessary skills?

You have 3 pages to describe what your tutorial is about, why it is
important, why you are the right person to give the tutorial and how you
will organize the tutorial.

----------------------------------------

17 January 2012 - Submission of proposal by email to workshop chairs
17 February 2012 - Notification about acceptance or rejection
