Call for Papers

Workshop on Scaling-up collaborative innovation for ICT in Education
The 21st International Conference on Computers in Education (ICCE 2013)
November 18-22, Bali, Indonesia

* Proceedings:
All accepted papers for mini-conference-style workshop will appear in one volume of workshop proceedings with ISBN and will be indexed by Elsevier Bibliographic Database.

Extended versions of selected papers will be inivited for a book published under Springer's Lecture Notes in Educational Technology (LNET) series.

* Important dates:
Papers due: August 19, 2013
Decision notification: September 2, 2013
Camera ready papers due: September 23, 2013

Since human society has entered the 21st century, information technology has penetrated to the economic development and all aspects of social life. There has never been a more pressing need to transform our educational system, and there has never be a better time to act. Education for all, quality education, personalized learning and lifelong learning have become some of the most important characteristics in the information age. ICT in education has gained global attention for improving the talent quality and enhance the national innovative capacity. However, the experience of trying to introduce different ICTs in the classroom and other educational settings all over the world over the past several decades suggests that the full realization of the potential for educational benefits of ICTs is not automatic. The effective integration of ICTs into the educational system is a complex, multifaceted process that involves not just technology but also curriculum and pedagogy, institutional readiness, teacher competencies, and long-term financing, are among problems we are faced with. Collaborative innovation through different areas, different regions, and different countries will enhance the research and practice of ICT in education.

* Topics of interest
The scope of the special session is focused on issues related ICT in education in each region and all over the world. Topics of interest considered to be within the scope include but are not limited to:

ICT in basic education
ICT in higher education
ICT in distance and continuing education
ICT in vocational education
ICT in educational administration
ICT for educational equity
ICT in rural education

Workshop papers should be formatted according the ICCE 2013 format and submitted electronically as a single PDF file through the ICCE 2013 submission system. The paper length is not strictly defined, however we encourage papers be no shorter than 4 and no longer than 8 pages with given format.
