ACII 2013 - 2de Call for Workshop Proposals
---------------------------------------

2-5 September 2013, Geneva, Switzerland
http://www.acii2013.org

The fifth biannual Humaine Association Conference on Affective
Computing and Intelligent Interaction (ACII 2013) will be held in
Geneva, Switzerland on September 2-5, 2013.

The Conference series on Affective Computing and Intelligent
Interaction is the premier international forum for research on
affective and multimodal human-machine interaction and systems.

This ACII edition will emphasize the humanistic side of affective
computing by promoting publications at the cross-road between
engineering and human sciences (including biological, social and
cultural aspects of human life).

The ACII conference will be organized by the Computer Vision and
Multimedia Laboratory and the Swiss Center for Affective Sciences from
the University of Geneva. Geneva has one of Europe's most beautiful
sceneries, situated between a lake and mountains and is a highly
international city where English speaking is common. It has been a
cultural center for many centuries and home to many creative spirits
in the fields of science and art.

In addition to regular papers (which are due 2 April 2013), ACII 2013
will also feature a number of Workshops.

The ACII 2013 Workshops aim to facilitate lively discussions,
comparison of methods, synthesis of results on particular topics of
interest to Affective Computing. The workshops will be held on the
first day of the main conference, Monday, 2 September 2013.

We invite workshop proposals on any current or emerging topic of
relevance for the fields of Affective Computing and Intelligent
Interaction. Workshop organizers are strongly encouraged to include
presentations that describe the relevance of their work for other
disciplines within Affective Computing ("bridge"
presentations). Evaluation of workshop proposals will be based on the
quality of the proposal, the level of details, the inter-disciplinary
character of the workshop, the workshop theme and its relevance to
ACII 2013. Two-page extended abstracts based on the workshop proposal
will be published in the Conference Proceedings. Workshop papers will
be included in the conference proceedings. Inclusion is dependent on
paper quality as well as whether the workshop organisers want to do
so.

Proposal Submission Instructions:

Proposals should not exceed 3 pages and must be emailed to Marc Mehu
[Marc.Mehu_at_unige.ch] and Björn Schuller [schuller_at_tum.de].
Please use "[ACII2013] Workshop Proposal" in the subject line.

Proposals should be prepared in PDF, or plain ASCII and provide the
following information:

+ Workshop title and acronym.
+ Description of the workshop's specific topic and goal.
+ Short description of the relevance and significance to the ACII 2013
main conference.
+ Optional note on the history of the workshop, should it not be the

+ Estimated paper submission volume and paper acceptance rate.
+ Plan for inviting participants / advertisement (relevant newsgroups,
electronic mailing lists, potential audiences from outside the ACII
conference community, etc.).
+ Brief description of the workshop format regarding full-day workshop
or half-day workshop and mix of events (oral and / or poster

+ First version of the call for participation including important
dates (submission deadline, notification, etc.) and names and
affiliation of the members of the proposed Program Committee.
+ Names and full addresses (including email and web address) of the
workshop organisers with a primary contact person for the workshop.

Workshop organisers will handle the submissions of the workshop papers
