i'm looking for data on how accepted verisign certificates are and how much people really trust them or even know about them?

my company's attempting to use an applet to do "1-click download". in netscape the security messages that come up are pretty scary.

"granting this is high risk:
contacting another computer or computers"

"granting this is high risk:
opening, modifying or deleting files on your computer"

i'm pretty convinced that the second message will scare the majority of people away, but i have no hard data to back this up.

has anyone done testing on this type of thing?
