The School of Electronic, Electrical and Computer Engineering of the
University of Birmingham offers a funded PhD studentship on the topic of
affective computing and social signal processing.

*Application details and requirements*

The post is available from 1 October 2011 for three years. We are
looking for an excellent student with a Master degree in computer
science or related areas. Interest in disciplines such as psychology and
social sciences would be desirable. Good programming skills are
required. The student will work in strict collaboration with the new
Human-Computer Interaction centre recently established. The studentship
will fully fund a UK or EU student.
We have a number of projects that we are interested in supporting, but
we welcome personal applications for any area of affective computing and
social signal processing, including affective/social robotics and
intelligent interaction.
Applications should include a CV, two academic references and a covering
letter detailing ideas for a research proposal (max 2 pages).

The deadline for applications is September 5th 2011.
