International workshop call for papers:

How should user involvement be conducted in e-Government projects? Are current methods for user requirements engineering and evaluation sufficiently suited to the characteristics of e-Government development? And what is the state-of-the-practice for user involvement in e-Government projects today?

A full day workshop on practices and methods for user involvement in e-Government projects will be arranged as part of the international conference on human-computer interaction, Interact 2005 ( The participants of the workshop are invited to provide presentations based on their experience and research on user involvement in e-Government projects. The experience from different projects will enable discussion of factors contributing to successful user-involvement in e-Government projects, and recommendations for best practices.

Workshop participants are invited to submit position papers on research findings, case experiences, main challenges, or factors contributing to successful user involvement in e-Government development.

May 25. 	Deadline for submission of position paper
May 31. 	Authors of accepted position papers notified
June 10.	Deadline for author workshop registration and "early bird" registration

Position papers should be up to 6 pages, and formatted according to the conference full paper format (Information for LNCS Authors, Proceedings and Other Multiauthor Volumes (,10735,5-164-2-72376-0,00.html). All submitted papers will be reviewed by the program committee. It is expected that at least one of the authors of each accepted position paper registers for the workshop.

Accepted position papers will be published in a publicly available ISBN-registered report. All workshop participants will receive a printed copy of the report. The report will also be made publicly available on the workshop website. 

The target audience for the workshop includes researchers and practitioners with empirical experience with user involvement in e-Government projects. The participants are not required to have a formal HCI background, but it is recommended that the participants have some background knowledge of the HCI field.

The workshop will include 15-20 persons. If necessary, participants will be selected based on their papers' potential to contribute towards the workshop aim of providing an overview of existing practices and serve as a basis for recommendations.

The fee for the workshop is 150 Euro in case of early registration (deadline June 10.), or 200 euros in case of late registration. It will be possible to register for the workshop and not for the conference.
