        Dear colleagues

to celebrate the year 2000, many years of interaction, and the
passing of the direction of the lab from Ben Shneiderman to Ben Bederson,
the Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory prepared a special retrospective
video with a selection of the best work from the lab. This video was given
to the 250 attendees of our June Symposium and Open House and we are now
happy to make it available to everyone.

        Video contents:

The 2000 Video Reports and Retrospective is available as a set of 2
videotapes, in NTSC or PAL, at a modest price covering production expenses,
handling and mailing ($50 for North America, $70 outside North America, plus
add $10 for PAL). See the webpages for ordering.

It was a challenge to select the segments to be included in this
retrospective. We tried to include the most important work having a strong
visual component (e.g. dynamic queries, treemaps, zooming interfaces), as
well as pieces which we know are used often for teaching (e.g. the
schedulers, toggles). We favored recent work and short pieces.
