Things are pretty quiet in the world of CHI Local SIGs during December,
as many chapters take a holiday break.

Here is a sampling of what is happening:

 Americas (outside the U.S.)

CapCHI's next meeting will be their social and interactive Millennium
Holiday Event. Pool, food, drinks, and fun on December 12.

VanCHI cosponsored a presentation in November with the Association
of Canadian Ergonomists. Speaker: Edie Adams; topic: "Product Design &
  Usability."

 Europe

December 4th, SIGCHI.dk hosts a full-day conference on "Design and
Usability" bringing graphical designers and usability specialist together
discussing and hopefully bridging the gab between graphical design and
  usability.

On 12 December, SIGCHI.NL will hold an evening meeting about
"interaction design patterns", with contributions from Martijn van
Welie (Free University, Amsterdam) and Joerka Deen (Oce).

SwissCHI met the evening of 30 November for their annual general
meeting and for a presentation by Dr. Ruud Derix on "Usability Lab
  Support."

Middle East

Isra-CHI's first meeting in November was a great success, with about
100 people attending. A feedback questionnaire will be circulated during
December and January for more ideas from more people about possible
  topics and future activities.

United States

BayCHI's program December 12 features a presentation from Orkut
Buyukkokten on "Web Browsing on Handheld Devices" and a presentation
from Ed Chi on "Scent of the Web." Also, the steering committee will be
assembling for its annual holiday dinner during the month.

DC_CHI's next meeting is December 11 and will feature Allison Druin
on, "What Toys Can Teach Us About HCI."

NYC-CHI will assemble Saturday December 2 for a hands-on preview
demonstration of Andruid Kerne's CollageMachine, an Interactive Agent of
Recombination. On December 11, Scott Weiss will present, "Designing
  Easy-To-Use Wireless Web Sites."

CHI-Austin's December 11 meeting will feature a panel discussion on
"Interfaces That Sell - Bringing Together Marketing, Design and
Usability." Jeff Kline and others will be the featured panelists.

MilwauCHI will hold a social event the evening of December 7 at Bay
View Bowl; bowling, subs, disco music, fog, and black lights follow a
short business meeting. Also, officer elections will be held this month.

You don't know where VanCHI, SIGCHI.dk, CapCHI, MilwauCHI, or ...
are? Take a look at the SIGCHI Local SIGs webpage
(http://www.acm.org/sigchi/local-sigs/) to find out.
