eNTERFACE12 Call for Bids
<apologies for cross-posting>
The eNTERFACE summer workshops (, initiated by the SIMILAR
European Network of Excellence on Multimodal Interfaces, are a very special
type of European workshops. They aim at establishing a tradition of
collaborative R&D work by gathering, in a single place, a group of senior
project leaders, researchers and students, working together for 4 weeks on a
pre-specified list of challenges. Participants are organized in teams,
attached to specific projects related to multimodal interfaces, and work on
free software.

Building on the success of eNTERFACE’05 (Mons, Belgium), eNTERFACE'06
(Dubrovnik, Croatia), and eNTERFACE’07 (Istanbul, Turkey), eNTERFACE’08
(Paris, France), eNTERFACE’09 (Genova, Italy), eNTERFACE’10 (Amsterdam, The
Netherlands), and eNTERFACE’11 (Plzen, Czech Republic), the eNTERFACE
Steering Committee now invites Universities and R&D Centres interested in
hosting eNTERFACE’12 to send a notification of interest, which should
- An estimated agenda (4 consecutive weeks in July-August)
- A description of the local facilities (mostly for lodging and catering)
- A temptative budget mentioning the possible contribution of local sponsors
(in order to typically get minimal costs for local arrangements) and an
estimation of the accommodation costs that participants will have to pay for
a whole month.

Deadline : Sept 15st, 2011

As of 2008, eNTERFACE workshops have been supported by the OpenInterface
Foundation (, the European
non-profit organization created by the SIMILAR NoE with the mission to
coordinate, expand and integrate activities of its members in the field of
multimodal interface research.
