*Strathclyde Chancellor's Fellowship in Mobile Interaction*
Strathclyde Chancellor's Fellowship Scheme: the UK University of the Year
seeks applications from bold, imaginative and innovative individuals with
exceptional research vision which will underpin a rapid academic career

One of the scheme's strategic priorities is in the area of Mobile
Interaction. The fellow in this area will be based in the Computer and
Information Sciences Department contributing primarily to the research of
the Mobiquitous Lab. Applications are invited from strong researchers in
areas of Mobile Interaction such as, but not limited to:

   - Novel user interface design and interaction techniques
   - Beyond the desktop interaction approaches
   - Context-aware interaction
   - Multimodal interaction
   - Mobile healthcare and health applications
   - Mobile social networks
   - User centred design tools and methods for mobile systems
   - Ethnographical and field studies with mobile technology
   - Group interaction and mobility
   - Interfaces for mobile communities
   - Wearable computing, smart clothes, new devices and sensors
   - Evaluation and usability of mobiles
   - Mobile accessibility
   - Visualization techniques for the mobile context

Fellowships will be for a period of 5 years, normally at Lecturer level,
with an expectation that the criteria for promotion to Senior Lecturer or
above will be attained during this 5 year period. Fellows who meet the
criteria for promotion by the end of the 5 year period and continue to
demonstrate a strategic fit in terms of research interests, will be
transferred to an open-ended ("tenured" equivalent) academic appointment at
the appropriate level. Exceptionally, where a candidate has an established
track record in research leadership, appointments may be made at Senior
Lecturer level with the expectation that the criteria for promotion to
Reader level will be attained during the 5 year Fellowship.

Fellows will be expected to contribute strongly to the department's
research and knowledge exchange activities in the short term with a
stronger contribution on teaching expected towards the end of the 5 year

Strathclyde is currently investing heavily in its new Technology and
Innovation Centre as a hub for world-leading research, transforming the way
academics, business, industry and the public sector collaborate. The
Technology and Innovation Centre research will initially span four Sectors:
Energy, Future Cities, Health and Manufacturing. Linkage to these research
themes will strengthen potential knowledge exchange opportunities and will
strengthen the applications.

See to find out more about the scheme, for background information on Computer and
Information Sciences and for details
of the Mobiquitous Lab.

Informal contact can be made prior to the 8 September deadline to either Dr
Mark Dunlop ( ) or Prof Ian
Ruthven ( ).
