CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
AccessibleGraphics 2012, Canterbury, UK
We would like to invite you to participate in AccessibleGraphics 2012, a one
day workshop on Accessible Graphics, which will take place in
Canterbury UK on July 6 as part of the Diagrams 2012 Conference
(http://www.diagrams-conference.org/2012/content/home).
The reason for the workshop is that we believe accessible graphics is
at a watershed and that recent advances in interface technologies have
the potential to greatly improve access to graphics by the vision
impaired in the next decade. How to do this and the potential benefits
for people with vision impairment are the subject of the workshop. We
would like to bring together researchers in the diagrams community,
who are interested in the cognitive benefits of diagrams and
accessible diagrams, with researchers and developers of new interface
technologies (haptic, audio etc) that can support accessible graphics,
as well as practitioners from organizations responsible for providing
accessible diagrams.
The workshop is intended to be very informal with lots of break out
sessions as well as some short presentations and demonstrations by
workshop attendees. You can find the details of the workshop at this
link: http://www.diagrams-conference.org/2012/content/accessible-graphics-graphics-vision-impaired-
people
If you are interested in giving a presentation or demonstration at the
workshop please submit a 1 page proposal (title and abstract only on
Easy Chair system) via this link:
http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=agraphics2012
Authors of accepted presentations or demonstrations will be invited to
provide an abstract for the workshop proceedings. The proceedings will
be published by CEUR and will be available after the workshop. We also
plan to invite workshop participants to contribute to a special issue
on accessible graphics in a reputable journal.
Hoping to see you at AccessibleGraphics 2012.
