Call for Papers EICS 2013

ACM SIGCHI Symposium on Engineering Interactive Computing Systems (EICS)

http://eics2013.org

June 24-27, 2013

City University London, UK
=================================================================

Overview

EICS 2013 is the fifth international conference in a series devoted to
engineering interactive computing systems. EICS focuses on methods,
techniques and tools for designing and developing interactive systems.
The conference brings together people who study or practice the
engineering of interactive systems.
Interactive Computing Systems are a focus of research and development
in many fields including HCI, Software Engineering, Requirements
Engineering, CSCW, Ubiquitous and Pervasive Systems, Enterprise
Systems and Game Development.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Conference Topics

Submissions are invited that address the engineering of human-computer
interactive systems. Topics include but are not limited to:

* modelling interaction and interactive systems

* processes for engineering interactive systems (e.g. design,
implementation, prototyping, evaluation, and testing)

* integrating interaction design into the software development process

* requirements engineering for interactive systems

* specification of interactive systems (methods, principles and tools)

* software architectures for interactive systems

* frameworks, toolkits, and APIs for interactive systems (e.g. API
usability, interaction-driven API design)

* domain-specific languages for interactive systems

* formal methods for HCI

* engineering for heterogeneous environments (e.g., multi-device user
interfaces)

* specifying and modelling users’ activities

* engineering innovative interactive applications (e.g., adaptive,
multimodal, collaborative, tangible)

* end-user development of interactive systems

* engineering user experience (e.g., fun, affective interaction)

* engineering complex interactive systems (e.g., large datasets, large
communities, enterprise systems)

* design and development methods (e.g., agile methods)

* safety critical systems (e.g. medical devices)

* engineering of entertainment applications (e.g., mobile and
ubiquitous games)

* specification and realisation of new and emerging modalities (e.g.
gesture),

* building interactive systems for human computation

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Type of submissions

Long Papers (10 pages), Late Breaking Results (6 pages),
Demonstrations (6 pages), Doctoral Consortium submissions (4 pages),
Tutorial and Workshop proposals (2 pages).

Long and Late Breaking Results papers can address research or novel or
informative case studies.

Research paper submissions should describe substantial contributions
of novel or ongoing work that has produced advanced results including
validation of results.

Case study papers report experience gained on case studies and on
applying engineering to large scale interactive computing
applications. We are interested in the problems and challenges faced,
and in how successful, or not, the adopted solutions were.

Acceptances for long papers can be conditional pending changes that
the program committee may suggest or require for the final camera-
ready draft of the paper. This means that your paper will not be
formally accepted to EICS until you revise it and submit a final draft
for approval by the program committee.

Accepted contributions will be published in the ACM SIGCHI proceedings
of EICS 2013 as well as in the ACM Digital Library.
